Methodology
How We Rate Operators
Last updated: 22 June 2026
Every operator listed on Casino Choice File is assessed against a fixed set of criteria derived from UK Gambling Commission licence requirements and practical factors that affect daily play. The current edition weights mobile and app experience because handset sessions account for the majority of UK online casino traffic.
Core criteria
- UKGC licensing — verified against the public register. Only operators with an active remote casino licence are included.
- Game range — approximate slot and table counts, noting major software providers represented.
- Live casino — live dealer studios available (Evolution, Playtech, etc.) and table variety.
- Mobile and app — native iOS/Android availability, mobile web quality, biometric login, session persistence across devices.
- Payment methods — debit cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and other UK-relevant options for deposits and withdrawals.
- Withdrawal speed — typical processing times from request to funds arriving, tested or verified from operator terms.
- Minimum deposit — lowest accepted funding amount for new accounts.
- Customer support — channels available (live chat, phone, email) and stated operating hours.
Verdict labels
Each operator receives a one-word editorial verdict — such as Strong, Solid, Established, Capable or Niche — summarising overall fit against the criteria set. These labels are not star ratings and do not imply guaranteed quality in every dimension. A Niche verdict may reflect a deliberate focus (e.g. wager-free spins) rather than inferior licensing.
Data sources
Information is gathered from operator websites, app store listings, UKGC public registers and structured account testing where permitted. Payment and withdrawal figures reflect published operator terms as of the last update date shown on each page.
Independence
Casino Choice File is affiliate-funded. Commission from outbound links does not influence individual criterion entries or verdict assignments. Operators cannot purchase favourable scores. See our Affiliate Disclosure for the commercial relationship.
Update cycle
Scorecards are reviewed quarterly or when a material change occurs — such as a licence suspension, app removal from an app store, or a significant shift in accepted payment methods. The homepage displays the most recent comprehensive update date.
